• This weekend, I’ll perform a special show, a late addition, at Saint Charles Coffeehouse. Open to all ages and with no cover, Saint Charles Coffeehouse is a great location for a first date or for a family evening out. They have great coffee, dinner, and baked goods. Of course, this Saturday, they’ll have some Irish and original music to enjoy with it.

  • Saint Louis has many great places to hear Irish music, folk music, and singer-songwriters. I have to admit there’s a place in my heart for Hartford Coffee Company.

Hartford Coffee is nestled in Tower Grove South, a block south of Arsenal and Tower Grove Park, at the corner of Hartford and Roger streets. The owners are very sensitive to the needs of the coffeehouse’s patrons, many of whom live in the surrounding neighborhood. There is a play area with a flat panel playing kid-friendly telly fare. There are tables near wall outlets, and a large “bar” with ample outlets for computer-toting workers and students.

Well, this Saturday, 23 May, they will have your own Jonathan Ramsey performing Irish folk and original songs starting at 7PM. That’s right, kids. Text your BFFs and Tweet your intentions of heading out for a night of fun at Hartford Coffee!

    I’ll see you there!

I heard comments, recently, that someone had to hunt down my schedule on another site. Dreadful. So, I’ve fixed my Show Calendar today. Updates should continue to show up there. Feel free to check out my myspace page as well –http://myspace.com/jonathanramsey- for updates.

I’m excited to be in Kansas City for another great Saint Patrick’s Day! The train ride from Saint Louis was only 4 hours 20 minutes. That’s like, um, on time and stuff.

So, tomorrow… My Kansas City friends, come out to Lew’s Grille and Bar, in lovely Waldo. I’ll be there from 1 PM to 4 PM. So, come check out the hook, while my DJ revolves it, so to speak. Lew’s is nestled in the shops on the southeast corner of 75th Street and Wornall Road. This is a great place to come out with the family for a bite to eat. I’ll be in the giant white tent in the parking lot. My auntie may even come out for a sandwich and some tunes.

I’ll then return to dear Harling’s, on Main Street at Westport Road. I’ll play from 5 PM until the peelers come… or 1 AM, whichever comes first. Harling’s is 21 and over, the prices are the lowest in town, and the staff is the friendliest in 98 states. I’m looking forward to seeing my old friends there or Saint Patrick’s Day fun!

  • Beatles' White Album 40th Anniversary Tribute Show

Come on. Come on. Please, please come down to Saint Louis for the White Album 40th Anniversary Tribute Show at Natural Fact Deli in Webster Groves. My friends Rachel Brandt and Brad Johnson of The Nancy Boys will join me to help perform the entire iconic double album from “Back in the U.S.S.R.” all the way to “Good Night”. It’ll be a Fab night of dedication to Beatlemania. Proceeds from the show benefit LiveFeed, the Saint Louis charity dedicated to ending hunger one show at a time.

Rachel Brandt, whose delicate, bluesy piano and vocals, will take on roughly a third of the classic White Album songs. The next night, she’ll hit the Saint Louis scene for another show –of her own soulful originals- at Cicero’s in University City.

Brad Johnson normally –in a matter of speaking- fronts the Saint Louis rockers The Nancy Boys. You can find them, of course, at many of Saint Louis’ rock and pop haunts. Catch the band delivering their own pensive rock sound at Ten Mile House, on Friday, 21 November.

I, Jonathan Ramsey, contrary to rumours fueled by the media, have not abandoned society to spend the rest of my days with a long beard, dancing with wolves and fairy shoemakers. No. In fact, I can be caught regularly in Saint Louis and the region, peddling Irish folk, post-modern standards, and my own twisted originals. Regulars at Castletown Geoghegan and O’Malley’s Irish Pub know. For this one night, I’ll spread the late-60s counterculture-infused cheer of the Beatles’ White Album (AKA The Beatles The Beatles) with Rachel and Brad.

So, head off to Natural Fact Deli, join the fun, and help feed Saint Louis children. Proceeds will help purchase food for area pantries and kitchens.

  • I’ll be on the road, later this week, and have added a Saturday morning show at KC Organics. KC Organics is one of Kansas City’s long-standing organic farmers’ markets. Several farmers from the area bring some of the freshest produce to the market. It’s always a treat to visit.

If you’re in Kansas City, Saturday morning, join me at KC Organics, Minor Park, Red Bridge Road east of Holmes Road. Take I-435 to Holmes Road (Exit 73). Head south, then east (left) on Red Bridge Road. Cross the little red bridge –not the namesake- and look for the market on the right.

Chocolate Cafe and Coffee House, O'Fallon, MO

A great weekend of Irish music. Friday night, I’ll head off to Saint Charles County, right off U.S. 40 (I-64) to Chocolate Cafe and Coffee House. That show will start at 7:30PM. Chocolate Cafe is right at U.S. 40 on the west side of Route K. The actual address is 1120 Technology Drive.

Saturday night, I return to the fabulous O’Malley’s Irish Pub in Soulard. At 1900 Cherokee St, at the corner of Lemp and Cherokee, it’s just blocks from the Anheuser-Busch brewery, and right across the street from the old Lemp Brewery. It’s a great Irish pub with a history of serving healthy doses of the region’s own Irish music offerings. Tommy, Bailey, and the whole family work their arses off to make you feel at home. I’ll bring the music. So, call your friends and meet them at this local gem.

Irish Music at Saint Charles Coffee House

Of course I had a great time at Saint Charles Coffee House, tonight, in beautiful Saint Peters, MO. Thanks to all the kind people who came up; said hello; talked music, drawing and television; and made the evening great. I hope you had as much fun as I did.

    See you next time.

    Love and peace!

  • Irish Music at Chocolate Cafe and Coffee House

Yes. Friday evening, I made my “less celebrated than hoped” debut at the Chocolate Café, in O’Fallon, MO. I’m afraid I hadn’t properly gotten the word out about this show. Fortunately, I had a small contingent that came out with me, and they had some off-duty baristas come in –Intelligent Designer love ‘em. Thanks to everyone that did come out. I’m going to enlist every bit of help that I can to get the word out for my August 15 show there.

I do have to recommend the coffee, too. It’s very good.

So, if you’d like to join –or manage- the Saint Charles County Street Team, give me a buzz on the horn. I mean, er, send an email to streetteams@jonathanramsey.com. I’d appreciate the help putting up flyers, or handing out postcards in the area. Of course, you’ll have backstage access (i.e., you’ll get to step behind the duct tape line at shows), as well as a cool, exclusive, Street Team t-shirt.
